Sheriff sales are sales on foreclosed properties. Sales are held at the date and time set on the Sheriff's Levy Form. They usually start at 10:00 am at the Law Enforcement Center, 105 5th St. SW, Hampton, Iowa.

The Sheriff's Office cannot guarantee clear title to the property and it is highly recommended that you contact an attorney for advice before you bid on a property.

What do I need to bring the day of the sale?
You should have a written guarantee from your lender stating the maximum allowable bid.
Do I have to pay the full amount of my bid on the day I purchase?
Yes
How do I pay for a purchase at a Sheriff's Sale?
Cash or you will be given enough time to go to your local bank or lending agency and get a cashier's check for the full amount you bid. You must pay the full amount to the Sheriff's Office by 2:00 pm on the day of the sale.
If I purchase at a Sheriff's Sale, who is responsible for back property taxes?
Contact your attorney.
Can I enter the residence I plan to purchase before the sale?
No.
How does the bidding start?
The judgment holder almost always starts with a bid given to the Sheriff before the time of the sale. This bid is considered a sealed bid and will not be disclosed before the start of the sale.
